Our "New" Puppy!

So, Josh and I are/were able to spend Monday and Tuesday together this week, off work thanks to my cool new job! We FINALLY got to spend a few full days together! And sleep in!!! Ok, well 8 am isn't really sleeping in for most of the normal world but, it works for us!
So, we start to wake up for the day around 8 this morning when we hear a ruckus coming from the neighbors backyard (the one right by our bedroom). Now, I have nicknamed their hound "Barney" only because I don't have any idea what his name really is and because he's so cute he just looked like a Barney! Not the big purple thing though!
Anywho~ So Barney is going nuts right? Josh goes to check it out & let Jade out while I get some socks on. He comes back a minute later and says "Babe, there is a dog in our backyard and it's not Jade." (Jade, for those of you just tuning in, is Josh's brother's (Zach) Rot we've been babysitting.

So, naturally I run outside to see this mystery dog. Lo & behold this dog is actually a PUPPY!!!!!! And a cute one at that!!! He is a GSD mix, possibly with Boxer from his unique coloring. But definitely GSD; he has the dimples, very straight ears and a dark saddle across his shoulders.

And he is SPUNKY!!!!! He LOVES to play with the tennis balls in the yard!

And the tug of war rope we use with Jade....

But mostly he likes to play with just Jade! Who tolerates him! Haha! She's like an only child, not used to sharing her people or her toys!

We've asked the neighbors but no one knows who he belongs to. (Yes, it's a boy; don't mind the girl color he is wearing!) Josh thinks that someone may have dropped him over our fence and abandoned him! Sad!! We took him on a walk (with Jade) around the block to see if anyone recognized him but we came up with nothing. We're going to keep trying; tomorrow we're taking him to the vet's office to check for a Home Again chip. He seems pretty well taken care of, minus a few scary scars. Also, we're gonna keep a lookout for any posters or ads in the local papers. If no one claims him though, I guess we're gonna keep him! Lol, we call him "Jack", just so we have something to call him other than "Hey You" or "Dog".

Here you can see Aspen trying to bite his tail through the glass! Haha! Jade doesn't have a tail and she just thought that this pup was a great candidate to try it out on!

So this was our cute little surprise for our day off! Perhaps he'll stay, perhaps he won't. Either way, we're going to have a little fun for a while! ; - )

Oh my gosh SO cute!!!! That is sweet that you are going to adopt a puppy! You got a pretty darn cute one too! He and Jade will soon be best friends! She won't ever be lonely again!

BTW you guys don't have much yard to mow. How come?? Is it mostly all that way in TX??

Well, the grass will grow but it takes a lot of TLC from us. It does not rain a lot out here, so you have to water your lawn all the time for it to be super nice.... And since water is not in high supply I don't really try too hard. The front yard is looking good though. :) And the last issue is that the bermuda grass needs a lot of sun, and there are two big trees in the back yard.... So, in conclusion: I would need to plant a fescue grass and water a lot to have a nice yard....
